FIELD CONDITIONS AND WORK SCHEDULE
-
Some remote exploration areas require employees to work in high predator (bears, wolves, etc.) territory.
-
Living conditions range from tent camping to staying in local establishments.
-
Duties may require employees to carry a pack weighing up to 50lbs.
-
Employees may be working around heavy duty mechanical equipment (dozers, backhoes, front-end loaders), aviation equipment (helicopters, float planes, etc.), and camp support equipment (4-wheelers, chainsaws, picks, shovels, generators, etc.)
-
Individuals will be expected to develop a cooperative spirit in field operations. Flexibility is a key component because project needs vary due to changing project focus or equipment breakdowns.
-
MI employees will be expected to work in inclement weather (mud, rain, snow, sleet, hail).
-
Due to Alaska's short summer season employees can work several weeks without a break.
-
Work schedules in remote areas may be continuous until the project is completed.
-
For projects close to or in Fairbanks, a typical week is 5-7 days with work days lasting 10-12 hours.
-
General work schedules vary with client requests and assigned duties.
